Bendy Trees

August 9, 2019

I was walking in the forest and I came across some really interesting trees, they were very bendy. The reason for the tress being like this is really quite simple, they were subjected to high winds during their early years and this influenced their shape and characteristics of later life. It got me thinking about our early development as children and how our early years affect us in adulthood. How we are treated in our first few years really do influence our adult lives. This podcast is about child development and about the importance of a concept called 'serve and return'. There is some exciting research carried out at Harvard University on the importance of serve and return, which basically means that children need positive interaction during their early years.
